Adam Garey is a sculptor, fabricator, and project manager whose work is grounded in a deep respect for labor, form, and process. Born in Lexington, Kentucky, he earned his BFA in Sculpture from the University of Kentucky in 2000 and an MFA from Florida State University in 2005. From early on, Adam was shaped by his family’s quiet example of commitment—doing what needed to be done with care and purpose. That ethic continues to guide both his studio practice and professional life.

Since 2000, Adam has built a multifaceted career that bridges his personal sculptural work with large-scale public art production. His sculptures emerge from a hands-on, process-driven approach, reflecting a physical and material fluency developed over decades of fabrication experience. One word, in particular, defines his relationship to his work: "work". “My sculptures and I are built the same way,” Adam says, “from the ground up, with a lot of intention and resolve.”

From 2007 to 2013, Adam worked with internationally renowned sculptor John Henry, supervising the fabrication and installation of monumental metal works. He then spent nearly a decade leading the fabrication, casting, and installation departments at the Seward Johnson Atelier in Hamilton, NJ. Most recently, Adam served as a Project Manager at UAP – Urban Art Projects (Polich Tallix) in New York, where he oversaw the execution of complex public art commissions from concept through installation.

Today, Adam focuses on his independent sculpture practice while continuing to consult on select large-scale fabrication and installation projects. His expertise spans metal fabrication, casting, project management, sculpture installation, and technical coordination. He is fluent in AutoCAD, art handling, workshop leadership, and the safe operation of equipment essential to large-format sculpture.

Adam has exhibited his work in cities across the U.S., including Jacksonville and Miami, FL; New Orleans, LA; Chattanooga, TN; Solsberry, IN; Atlanta, GA; Haddonfield, NJ; Chicago, IL; Lexington and Frankfort, KY; and locations in Virginia and West Virginia. He also serves on the Board of Directors at Sculpture Trails Outdoor Museum in Solsberry, Indiana, where he helps support artist programming, jurying, and fundraising.

With every project—whether sculpting in his own studio or helping bring others’ visions to life—Adam brings a sense of purpose, precision, and enduring respect for the act of making.
